Personal Webcast

[by sven @ Mon Jul 28 20:41 CEST 2003]

With Personal Webcast people with an ADSL connection from XS4ALL can broadcast audio/video over the internet via a streaming server. The audio/video is locally encoded by WME (Windows Media Encoder) and is send to XS4ALL where a streaming server divides the stream into a maximum of five streams for five simultaneous listeners, but it uses bandwidth for only one listener, also the available upload capacity is not divided under the five listeners. Listeners listen to the streaming server instead of listening directly to the encoded stream from WME. If I have WME broadcasting you could use this Windows Media Player ActiveX control to listen to some music I usually listen to.

BRLTTY

BRLTTY is a background process (daemon) which provides access to the Linux console for a blind person using a refreshable braille display. It drives the braille display, and provides complete screen review functionality. Some speech capability has also been incorporated.
